Chairperson - Neurosurgery & CNS Radiosurgery & Co-Chief - Cyberknife Centre
32+ years experience
Dr. Aditya Gupta is an internationally acclaimed neurosurgeon and a foundational figure in the field of stereotactic radiosurgery in India. Currently serving as the Chairperson of Neurosurgery and CNS Radiosurgery, as well as the Co-Chief of the CyberKnife Centre at Artemis Hospital, Gurugram, he is recognized as one of the country’s most elite specialists in high-precision brain surgery. An alumnus of the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, his career is defined by an extraordinary volume of over 10,000 brain tumor surgeries and more than 6,000 radiosurgery procedures.
Dr. Gupta is a global specialist in non-invasive "knifeless" brain surgery. He is one of the few surgeons worldwide with extensive experience across all major radiosurgery platforms, including CyberKnife, Gamma Knife, and LINAC. His expertise in CyberKnife technology allows for the treatment of tumors in the brain and spine with sub-millimeter precision, delivering high-dose radiation while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. This technology is particularly effective for deep-seated tumors, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and functional disorders like trigeminal neuralgia.
After serving as an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at AIIMS until 2009, Dr. Gupta went on to co-found the Institute of Neurosciences at Medanta – The Medicity, where he served as the Additional Director until 2016. His international pedigree is unparalleled, featuring advanced training from world-class institutions such as the University of Amsterdam, Hôspital Pitié-Salpêtrière (Paris), and Wake Forest University (USA). His fellowship at the CJW Medical Center in Virginia, USA, further solidified his mastery of complex neurovascular and spinal interventions.
Dr. Gupta has a massive international presence, providing life-saving surgical care to patients from over 15 countries across Africa, Central Asia, and the Middle East. His clinical success is matched by a prolific academic record, with more than 50 scientific publications in indexed journals. As a frequently featured expert on national television, he plays a critical role in public health education, particularly regarding the latest advancements in brain tumor management and minimally invasive neurosurgery.
Dr. Gupta’s surgical repertoire encompasses the full spectrum of neurosurgery, from complex skull-base tumors to advanced spine surgery. He is a pioneer in the use of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders and specializes in the surgical management of epilepsy. By combining decades of high-volume surgical experience with a passion for technological innovation, he remains at the forefront of the global evolution of neurosciences, ensuring that the most advanced and least invasive treatments are accessible to his patients.
